I don't know about you but I feel stuck. I feel like I'm making progress but I feel stuck at the same time. I just don't know where to go from here. What to write. What to do. I feel unmotivated and motivated at the same time. And this is definitely not the time to be unmotivated. With Christmas coming in right around the corner (more like speeding in) right now is the time I need to buckle in and get ish done. For those in college, right now is definitely the time to buckle down since finals are coming in hot. But, after a few days break from Thanksgiving, and Christmas so close, how are we supposed to force full throttle when we've been on break. Even those at work still need to find the motivation to actually do stuff. I'll be honest, I don't know how to gain motivation right now. All what I want is for it to be cloudy and cold and to be in front of the fire painting or building or doing something fun. And don't get me wrong, I love writing! This blog has been so much fun for me. It's an easy way to be creative. And I love it! Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. But today is just a tough one. So let's figure out how to move forward and get stuff done.
1) Find a good spot to work
For example, I'm not in a good spot to work. I'm in front of the TV to be honest right now. But when you put yourself in a good spot, you put yourself in a good mood. When you're in a good mood, it would stand to reason, that you are more apt to get stuff done that you need to get done.
2) Set a goal and prioritize once you've found a good spot
For example, if you have two papers to write and a test to study for, set a goal to write both the outlines and then study a chapter for a test. If you are at work, plan out the week and set goals for what you need to do throughout the day. For me, I work odd jobs here and there. So every Sunday night, I plan out my week so that i know what I need to get done and by when I need to get it done.
3) Play good music and get yourself a treat (coffee or sweet something) to set the mood
Not only does getting in the right space make a difference but enhancing that with a playlist that helps stay you focused is great way to help motivate you to get stuff done.
4) Take breaks
Don't forget to give yourself a rest. Plan those in to your schedule so that you don't overload your brain, or overload your schedule. It's so important to let yourself relax throughout the day so that you can stay focused and keep working hard toward your goals.
5) Don't beat yourself up for not getting everything done
We are only human and sometimes we need to recognize that we have limits. We can only do so much. So if you don't finish everything, tomorrow is a new day. You can plan to get it done then. And that's perfectly alright. Cut yourself slack and know you're only human.
I hope this helps you to buckle down over the next few weeks and get stuff done. For those in college, a nice long break is coming. For those in the working world, a break is coming for you too. It may not be as long as you want it, but at least you know you have something to look forward to. I hope this helps you guys get motivated.
