Freaky Friday- Broken Doll Edition

Hey everyone! I'm back with another Halloween edition post and I'm so excited about this one. This look was the very first look I ever did Halloween makeup for almost three years ago.

Ever since then, I've done fun makeup for all Halloween events and it's been really cool. So, for this look I did a Broken Doll. There are so many variations of this look. You can go as creepy as you like or you can hold back and make it more simple. It all depends on your style. So, without further ado, let's get in to the look! (Links to recommended products at bottom of page)

1) Face Makeup

Like last weeks look, you want to start with your normal face of makeup. For me, I put on foundation, under-eye concealer, blush, bronzer, and mascara (only on the top lashes though...THIS IS KEY). The important thing is you feel comfortable with the canvas you are starting out with. I have bad skin so I like to make sure my face is even before I start adding to the look.

2) Eyes

This look emphasizes all features of the face, so we are going to enhance the eyes and make them look bigger. Before I start on the under-eye part, I did some bold eyeshadow to balance out what we are going to do on the bottom. I put silver all over the lid, grey in the crease, and dark green on the outside corner. Then I topped it off with eyeliner and fake eyelashes, and them moved to the bottom part of the eye. What you want to do for this part is follow the natural hollows of your under-eyes to know where to enhance your eyes. Because I used eyeshadow, I made sure to put on eyeshadow primer under my eyes before adding any shadow. Once the primer is on, I drew out the bottom line with black eyeliner pencil. Once that was drawn out, I filled in the middle with white eyeshadow and then put black eye shadow on top of the black eyeliner to make the line bolder. Then I added little lines to mimic eyelashes on the bottom line.

3) Cheeks

After the eyes are done, I moved down to the cheeks. Since we are mimicking a doll, we want to make the cheeks as bright and circular as possible. So I dabbed blush ONLY on the apples of my cheeks. After that, I used black eyeliner pencil to mimic little freckles on the apples of my cheeks.

4) Lips

So this is the big part of the look and the one that you can change based on the look that you want to go for. I like the visually confusing look, which just so happens to make it a little creepier. For this one, I made sure to prime the parts of my face where I was going to be putting white eyeshadow. This will help the white eyeshadow look brighter and more white. The first thing I did was drew the "upper teeth" on my bottom lip starting with the center line, which will help to make the rest of the teeth symmetrical. After that, I drew two lines down towards my chin starting from the corners of my mouth. Then, I drew the "bottom lip" on the bottom of my chin. Once that is drawn on, you can draw the bottom row of teeth right above the "bottom lip" you just drew. I started with the center line and then worked out from there lining up the top lines with the bottom lines of the teeth. After all the lines are draw out, you can fill everything in (top and bottom lips red, teeth white, and the rest black eyeliner and then topped with black eyeshadow). If you don't want to do this part, you are more than welcome to just top it off with red lips.

5) Face

Broken parts on face

From here you can draw on the "broken" parts. There is no particular order to which these need to be drawn on the face. I started with a jagged line and then created a sort of shape with edges. From the edges, I drew lines radiating away from the part that will be the hole and made small cracks. After those are all draw on, you want to fill in the "missing" part with black eyeliner topped with black eyeshadow. The last part to this is shading. What you want to do for this is take a really light shade of nude eyeshadow and go around the "missing parts" on the edges to make those pieces stand away from the black of the "missing part".

6) Outfit

This is always the easy part. Because this look is makeup based, you can really wear whatever you have in your closet. So for this look, I paired it with a black dress and some black heels. It is simple but really helps to put the emphasis on the makeup. But, as I said, you can work with whatever you have in your closet.

And that completes the look! I'd love to see your recreations on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, so tag me if you decided to dress as a broken doll for Halloween!!! Thanks and I'll talk to you next time!
